We would like to share our opinion here at C&B Birds
The event at C & B on Saturday was enjoyed by all. Friends got together, information was shared, food was partook of, sales were taken advantage of, and funds were collected for the Bird Rescue. The topic of Bird Adoption/Rescue facilities and bird breeders came up several times in conversations, and I thought I would take this time to share my opinion on this subject with you. There are so many unwanted animals, it seems more than ever due to the economy or whatever reason people would have for no longer choosing to keep their pet. There are a lot of pets that need re homed due to changing circumstances, such as my treasured Grady. His owner sadly and suddenly passed away, and I took him into my home and my heart. Not all rescues are "problem childs." Many are just displaced. Many, however, for many reasons, do need a lot of extra care, understanding, and need people who have the knowledge and experience of how to address these needs that have occurred because of being traumatized by the stressful circumstances in which the birds have lived, and these birds do in fact have behavioral problems as well as physical problems.. There are many people that are up to the challenge of this, and thank God for that. There are many birds who just need a little time in a loving environment. These are all the birds who are saved and re homed by Rescue organizations. However, not everyone is willing or able to do this. One would argue that there are plenty of birds that need homes that are already here, and there is much truth to that. However, there are people that chose to purchase a hand fed baby bird from a reputable breeder for many reasons.. And I do stress REPUTABLE>!The hobbyist breeder commits himself to these babies for between several weeks and several months, feeding, caring and socializing these birds for people who are looking for this very thing. At C & B, our hand fed babies are very socialized, healthy and happy. We take the time to instruct potential buyers of all the care that their new considered bird will need, as well as the commitment involved. We strive to make sure both bird and owner are a GOOD FIT. Our number one concern is our babies. These hand fed babies have brought a lot of joy into many people's lives who were not equipped or did not chose to adopt. It is my opinion that there is an equal place for both the rescues and the responsible breeder . C & B gives a 10% discount to anyone who adopts a bird, and also to anyone who buys a new baby. It is our primary concern that the bird be properly housed and cared for, whether it be adopted or purchased. The bottom line is the quality of care of the birds and the people who care for them be properly educated on handling behaviors, housing, feeding and general care. This is the opinion of Cindy McShane and C & B Birds. I welcome any discussion on this topic and any feedback.
